Momenteel test Colruyt een pilootproject uit rond de mobiliteit van zijn werknemers, en meer bepaald rond het woon-werkverkeer. Een kleine honderd werknemers van de Colruyt Group worden van en naar hun vaste werkplek gebracht met een gloednieuwe autocar die uitgerust is als een kantoor op wielen. De bus rijdt tussen Gent en Halle, waar Colruyt zijn hoofdzetel heeft. Van de tachtig medewerkers die nu al zijn ingeschreven voor de testperiode, zijn er ook zes West-Vlamingen.
Gedurende zes maanden zetten de medewerkers zo hun reistijd om in werktijd. Met dit proefproject willen de Beroepsvereniging van Autobus- en Autocarondernemers (BAAV) en het Vlaams Instituut voor Mobiliteit (VIM) achterhalen of dit nieuwe transportmiddel een duurzaam alternatief kan bieden voor het woon-werkverkeer en of dit concept kan leiden tot nieuwe businessmodellen voor de autocar industrie. Voor het proefproject “Office on Wheels” werden een aantal West-Vlaamse partners aangetrokken. Busbouwer VDL, met een vestiging in Roeselare, bouwde het voertuig. Autocarbedrijf Mandel Car uit Izegem kocht de bus aan en voert de ritten uit. (KC)
